OVERVIEW
MIM’s mentorship program has been established to assist Turkish students and young professionals settle in to their new environment and adapt to the US. MIM members, all of whom are Turkish American professionals and who have experienced the challenges of moving from Turkey to the US, will offer their time, guidance and experience to help mentees navigate the transition to the US. This is a volunteer program and is not a program for financial aid or grants.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MENTOR
Mentors will make themselves available by phone or in person if they choose, per the time commitment agreed with their mentee. They should be available as a resource for their assigned mentee, providing guidance, information and generally helping the mentee to get settled as they build their network in the US.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MENTEE
Mentees applying to the program will be assigned a mentor based upon their location and their field of study or profession. The mentee may regard their mentor as a resource for information and as a friendly contact point away from home. Once assigned, the mentee and mentor should connect, and establish the most suitable way to be in contact going forward. The mentee can rely on the mentor as a source of guidance and advice. However, the mentees need to drive the relationship and need to assume full responsibility for themselves.
In order to become a part of this program, you must be a MIM member.
